Get ready for another murder — and maybe even a resurrection — because Benoit Blanc is back, and things just got darker. Netflix has officially unveiled the first teaser for Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, the highly anticipated third chapter in Rian Johnson’s clever and ever-evolving whodunit franchise.
Front and center once again is Daniel Craig as the drawling detective Benoit Blanc, stepping into what’s described as his “most dangerous case yet.” This time, the murder trail leads us into the unsettling shadows of the church, where young priest Jud Duplenticy (played by Josh O’Connor) finds himself assisting the fiery Monsignor Jefferson Wicks (played by Josh Brolin). But what lies beneath the incense and stained glass? Secrets, lies, and maybe a body or two.
The stacked ensemble cast is nothing short of killer: Glenn Close, Mila Kunis, Jeremy Renner, Kerry Washington, Andrew Scott, Cailee Spaeny, Daryl McCormack, and Thomas Haden Church round out the lineup. The teaser offers just enough cryptic visuals to whet our appetite — think candle-lit corridors, veiled threats, and Blanc in black — setting a much darker tone than Knives Out (2019) and Glass Onion (2022).
As with previous installments, Wake Up Dead Man is both written and directed by Rian Johnson, with Nathan Johnson returning to compose the score, and Ram Bergman producing alongside Rian. The film promises to combine gothic tension with sharp wit, stepping further into the shadows while keeping that now-iconic Knives Out flavor intact.
Release dates are locked in: Wake Up Dead Man will hit select theatres on November 26, 2025, before streaming globally on Netflix from December 12. With an ominous title, a priest in crisis, and Blanc in peak form, this could be the franchise’s boldest — and most haunting — chapter yet.
