Marking two decades since its release, Chatrapathi (2005) continues to hold a special place in the history of Telugu cinema. Directed by S. S. Rajamouli and headlined by Rebel Star Prabhas, the film redefined mass action drama with its powerful storytelling, memorable performances, and chart-topping soundtrack.

On its 20th anniversary, production house Sri Venkateswara Cine Chitra (SVCC) shared an emotional tribute post with a nostalgic poster, celebrating the timeless journey of Sivaji, the character that cemented Prabhas as one of the most bankable stars. The makers expressed gratitude to the entire team, including Rajamouli’s vision and M. M. Keeravani’s iconic music, which played a pivotal role in the film’s success.

Released on 29 September 2005, Chatrapathi emerged as a blockbuster, going on to win two Nandi Awards – Best Supporting Actress for Bhanupriya and Best Music Director for Keeravani. Beyond awards, the film became a phenomenon among audiences with its gripping narrative, emotional highs, and mass action sequences that etched themselves into pop culture.

Such was the impact of Chatrapathi that it was remade multiple times across different languages – Bengali (Refugee in 2006), Bangladeshi Bengali (Kothor in 2007), Kannada (Chatrapathi in 2013), and Hindi (Chatrapathi in 2023). Even after two decades, the film stands tall as a cult classic, continuing to inspire filmmakers and resonate with fans across generations.

On the wok front, Prabhas will soon be seen in The Raja Saab, he is also busy wrapping Fauji, Spirit, Salaar Part 2, and Kalki 2898 AD sequel.
