Jio Studios has officially announced a monumental achievement for Dhurandhar, as the spy action thriller storms into the prestigious ₹1000 crore club. Sharing a striking poster on social media, the studio declared, “Entering the 1000 CR club, loud and proud. Dhurandhar frenzy continues worldwide,” capturing the scale of the film’s unprecedented global success. The announcement has further amplified the buzz around one of the biggest Indian blockbusters in recent cinematic history.
Written, co-produced, and directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar is backed by Jyoti Deshpande’s Jio Studios alongside Aditya and Lokesh Dhar’s B62 Studios. The film boasts a powerhouse ensemble cast led by Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, and R. Madhavan, with Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun, and Rakesh Bedi in key roles. Supporting performances by Manav Gohil, Danish Pandor, Saumya Tandon, Gaurav Gera, and Naveen Kaushik further strengthen the film’s layered narrative.
The first installment of a planned two-part series, Dhurandhar follows a decade-long Indian intelligence operation centered on an undercover agent who infiltrates the criminal and political underworld in Karachi. The narrative blends espionage, high-stakes action, and geopolitical intrigue, creating a tense and immersive cinematic experience. Despite being classified as a work of fiction and receiving an A certificate from the CBFC, the storyline draws loose inspiration from real-world events that shaped regional tensions.
The film subtly weaves references to historical incidents such as the 1999 IC-814 hijack, the 2001 Indian Parliament attack, the 2008 Mumbai attacks, and Operation Lyari. This ambitious scope, combined with its massive 214-minute runtime, makes Dhurandhar one of the longest Indian films ever produced. While some critics pointed out pacing issues due to its length, many praised its bold storytelling and uncompromising vision.
Released theatrically on December 5, 2025, Dhurandhar received mixed-to-positive critical reviews but witnessed extraordinary audience support. Critics lauded the ensemble performances, especially those of Ranveer Singh and Akshaye Khanna, along with Aditya Dhar’s direction, large-scale action sequences, cinematography, music, and detailed world-building. Word-of-mouth and repeat viewership played a key role in driving its sustained box office momentum.
Commercially, the film has rewritten record books. Dhurandhar emerged as the highest-grossing Indian film of 2025, the fourth highest-grossing Hindi film of all time, the ninth highest-grossing Indian film overall, and the highest-grossing A-rated Indian film ever. Its entry into the ₹1000 crore club cements its status as a landmark achievement in Indian cinema.
With anticipation already sky-high, the story is far from over. The sequel, Dhurandhar Part 2: The Revenge, is scheduled for release on March 19, 2026. Given the overwhelming success of the first installment, expectations are massive as audiences prepare to return to Aditya Dhar’s gritty, high-stakes espionage universe once again.
