Netflix has unveiled the full official trailer for Pride and Prejudice, bringing Jane Austen’s beloved classic back to the screen in a new six-part mini-series. Set against the traditions and social expectations of 19th-century England, the adaptation promises romance, family drama, misunderstandings and the irresistible tension between Elizabeth Bennet and Mr Darcy. With a celebrated cast and a fresh creative vision, the series is gearing up to introduce one of literature’s most enduring love stories to a new generation of viewers. Pride and Prejudice is scheduled to premiere on Netflix worldwide on December 3, 2026.

At the heart of the story is Elizabeth Bennet, a sharp-witted young woman who refuses to follow society’s expectations without questioning them. Her life takes an unexpected turn when she meets Fitzwilliam Darcy, a wealthy landowner whose proud and reserved personality makes an immediate impression. Their first encounters are filled with misunderstandings and conflicting opinions, but as their paths continue to cross, both begin to discover that their initial judgments may not tell the whole story. The series explores how pride, prejudice and personal assumptions can stand in the way of genuine affection, even when love is closer than expected.

Emma Corrin takes on the role of Elizabeth Bennet, while Jack Lowden portrays the enigmatic Mr Darcy. The supporting cast includes Olivia Colman as Mrs Bennet and Rufus Sewell as Mr Bennet, bringing considerable experience to the family at the centre of the drama. Freya Mavor plays Jane Bennet, while Daryl McCormack appears as Mr Bingley, whose growing affection for Jane provides another important romantic storyline. Jamie Demetriou plays Mr Collins, and Louis Partridge takes on the role of the charming but questionable Mr Wickham. Rhea Norwood, Siena Kelly, Fiona Shaw, Hopey Parish and Hollie Avery also feature in the adaptation.

Beyond the central romance, the story follows the five Bennet sisters as they navigate love, family responsibilities and the pressures of finding suitable marriages. The arrival of wealthy bachelors in their neighbourhood creates excitement and new possibilities, but complicated relationships and family scandals soon threaten to change everything. Jane and Bingley’s developing romance offers a gentler contrast to Elizabeth and Darcy’s more challenging connection. Meanwhile, Elizabeth must learn to look beyond appearances and reconsider the assumptions that initially shape her opinion of Darcy. These intertwined stories give the series room to explore the humour, emotional conflicts and social commentary that have made Austen’s novel so enduring.

The new adaptation is created and written by Dolly Alderton, known for her work on Everything I Know About Love, and directed by Welsh filmmaker Euros Lyn, whose credits include Heartstopper and Dream Horse. Produced by Lisa Osborne, the series is made by Lookout Point for the BBC, with Netflix set to distribute it internationally. First published in 1813, Austen’s novel has inspired numerous film and television adaptations over the years. Presenting the story across six episodes gives this version an opportunity to develop its characters and relationships in greater detail while retaining the wit, emotional depth and romantic tension of the original.

With its newly released trailer, Pride and Prejudice is already an intriguing prospect for fans of period dramas and classic literature. The combination of Emma Corrin and Jack Lowden, supported by an impressive ensemble cast, offers a fresh interpretation of Elizabeth and Darcy’s complicated journey towards love. The series also arrives during an exciting period for Jane Austen enthusiasts, with renewed interest in adaptations of her celebrated works. Whether audiences are longtime admirers of the novel or discovering the story for the first time, the upcoming Netflix mini-series promises a compelling mix of romance, humour and timeless lessons about looking beyond first impressions.
