Netflix has dropped the warm, witty and wonderfully chaotic trailer of its upcoming family comedy Single Papa, and it instantly positions Kunal Kemmu as a scene-stealing, emotionally clumsy, irresistibly lovable dad.
Set to premiere on December 12, the series follows Gaurav Gehlot, a 30-year-old man-child whose life thus far has been comfortably cushioned by his noisy Indian family, a mother who still buys his underwear, and a steady supply of pocket money from his father. But everything changes when he shocks his entire clan by announcing that he is adopting a baby—voluntarily, enthusiastically, and with absolutely zero idea of what he’s signing up for.
Created and co-produced by Ishita Moitra and Neeraj Udhwani, and directed by Shashank Khaitan, Hitesh Kewalya, and Udhwani, Single Papa comes from the house of Juggernaut Productions, with Aditya Pittie and Samar Khan at the helm.
The trailer paints a hilarious portrait of Gaurav’s journey as he tries to juggle formula bottles, diapers, unsolicited advice from every aunty within a 10-km radius, and the incredulous reactions of his own parents who are convinced this must be a prank gone too far. The show promises humour layered with affection, awkwardness wrapped in sweetness, and the joys and jolts of building an unconventional family. Joining Kemmu is a stellar ensemble cast Manoj Pahwa, Neha Dhupia, Prajakta Koli, Ayesha Raza, Suhail Nayyar, Dayanand Shetty, Aisha Ahmed, Dhruv Rathee, and Isha Talwar—each adding their own flavour to the show’s delightful family circus.
