JioHotstar has dropped the much-awaited teaser of Hunkkaar – The Roar, and the first glimpse promises an intense battle for truth, justice and accountability. Sharing the teaser, the streaming platform wrote, “Nahi hoga insaaf ka intezaar, bas goonjegi sachhai ki Hunkkaar,” setting the tone for a gripping socio-thriller that follows a young woman's fight against a powerful godman. The series will begin streaming exclusively on JioHotstar from September 25, 2026.
At the centre of Hunkkaar – The Roar is Aneet Padda, who plays 17-year-old Meenu Rawat, a young woman whose accusation sets a larger chain of events into motion. The teaser hints at a story where the pursuit of justice is anything but straightforward, with power, influence and institutional pressure creating obstacles at every turn. Fatima Sana Shaikh plays ACP Jasleen Singh Soni, bringing a police perspective into the increasingly complicated case, while Raghubir Yadav appears as a powerful antagonist.
The series boasts an impressive ensemble that also includes Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Arjun Mathur, Ram Kapoor, Rajesh Sharma and Charu Shankar, among others. Hunkkaar – The Roar is jointly directed by Nitya Mehra and Karan Kapadia and produced by Birla Studios and Applause Entertainment, in association with Purple Pebble Pictures and Mangata Films. The involvement of Purple Pebble Pictures adds another interesting dimension to the project, with Priyanka Chopra associated with the production banner. The series has also been described as an A-rated socio-thriller, signalling a mature treatment of its sensitive subject matter and the complex issues surrounding its central conflict.
For Aneet Padda, Hunkkaar comes at an interesting point in her career, giving the actor an opportunity to step into an emotionally demanding role. Her character, Meenu, appears to be at the heart of the show's battle between truth and power, while Fatima Sana Shaikh's police officer provides another crucial perspective on the pursuit of justice. The combination of a young protagonist, an influential antagonist and a determined officer gives the series multiple points of view rather than reducing the story to a simple good-versus-evil conflict.
