“I think he is a man of few words, but there are moments when he cracks a joke,” says Ishita Dutta about Ajay Devgn, offering a glimpse into the superstar’s personality away from the camera. Having worked with him across four films, Ishita says their equation has become comfortable and natural over the years. However, the atmosphere on the sets of Drishyam: The Conclusion is largely defined by the film’s intense nature, leaving little room for casual interaction. “It’s not a comedy, and it’s quite intense, so everyone stays in character—there’s a lot going on,” she explained, adding that the team remains focused on getting every scene right.

Speaking about her working relationship with Ajay, Ishita revealed that their conversations are not always about work. Despite being a man of few words, the actor does have his lighthearted moments, occasionally cracking jokes and bringing a little fun to the set. “Of course, having done four films with him now, things are very comfortable and natural,” she shared. Addressing the curiosity people may have about what it is like to work with the superstar, Ishita explained that when they sit together, they chat about fitness or sometimes completely random things. Once those conversations are over, they naturally return to rehearsing their lines and making sure everything is just right. For her, that balance between easy camaraderie and professional commitment has become a familiar part of working with Ajay.

Ishita also opened up about what it was like to be a relatively new face in a franchise featuring established performers such as Ajay Devgn, Tabu and Shriya Saran. While the senior actors had already worked together and shared a great rapport, she recalled how considerate they were towards newcomers. “They were also very considerate toward us as newcomers, always making sure to include us and engage with us,” she said. Their welcoming attitude helped her settle in and build relationships with the cast, making the experience more comfortable despite being surrounded by actors with years of experience and an established on-screen legacy.

Among her co-stars, Ishita shared a special mention for Tabu, revealing that she developed a wonderful relationship with the acclaimed actress. She was equally affectionate while talking about Shriya Saran, describing her as genuinely sweet and someone she loves working with. Their bond extended beyond the scenes they performed together, with the actresses finding little ways to connect during breaks. Ishita recalled how she and Shriya would even show each other things they were planning to buy between takes. These everyday exchanges became part of their shared experience on set, offering a lighter contrast to the intense drama unfolding in front of the camera.

For Ishita, the warmth among the cast was one of the most memorable aspects of being part of the Drishyam world. She emphasised that everyone shared strong interpersonal relationships, with the camaraderie making the working environment feel natural and inclusive. The combination of senior actors making newcomers feel welcome, friendships developing between takes and the team’s collective dedication helped create a positive atmosphere despite the demanding material. Her anecdotes also reveal a different side of a franchise known for its suspense and tension: behind the carefully rehearsed scenes, there are conversations about fitness, shopping plans, random topics and the occasional joke from a man of few words.

Ishita Dutta plays Anju Salgaonkar, Vijay and Nandini’s adopted elder daughter, a character she has portrayed since the first instalment of the franchise in 2015. Directed, co-written and produced by Abhishek Pathak, Drishyam: The Conclusion continues the Hindi crime-thriller series following Drishyam 2 (2022), with an original story distinct from its Malayalam counterpart. The film features Ajay Devgn, Tabu, Shriya Saran, Jaideep Ahlawat, Rajat Kapoor, Prakash Raj, Ishita Dutta and Mrunal Jadhav. Released in theatres on October 2, 2026, coinciding with Gandhi Jayanti, the film brings the familiar ensemble back into a story of secrets and suspense. And while Ajay Devgn may be a man of few words, Ishita’s candid recollections show that the moments between the intense scenes can be just as memorable.
