JioHotstar has unveiled the first look of its upcoming Hotstar Special Hunkkaar – The Roar, giving audiences their first glimpse into what promises to be a gritty and hard-hitting socio-thriller. The makers shared the poster with the powerful tagline, “Ek sach, ek awaaz, ek Hunkkaar”, while announcing that the much-awaited teaser will drop on September 1, 2026. The series brings together a strong ensemble and a story that appears to explore truth, power and the courage to speak up.
Produced by Birla Studios and Applause Entertainment, in association with Purple Pebble Pictures and Mangata Films, Hunkkaar – The Roar is directed by Nitya Mehra and Karan Kapadia. The series features Aneet Padda, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Arjun Mathur, Raghubir Yadav and Ram Kapoor in key roles. The project has reportedly been in development for some time and is now making its way to audiences at a particularly interesting moment, with Aneet Padda enjoying increased attention following her recent breakout success.
At the centre of the story is Aneet Padda, who plays a woman taking on a powerful godman. Her character's journey appears to revolve around the difficult fight to make her truth heard when she finds herself up against influence and power.
