After winning hearts with Saiyaara, Aneet Padda is ready to leave her comfort zone and explore a much darker world. The actor is set to headline the upcoming crime thriller Hunkkaar: The Roar, and the trailer released on Thursday gives audiences a glimpse of a performance that looks worlds away from her previous work. This time, Padda steps into the shoes of a young woman surrounded by suspicion, accusations and a battle where truth may not be as simple as it seems.
The trailer introduces Padda as Meenu Rawat, a woman who finds herself at the centre of a serious accusation. Rather than quietly accepting the questions thrown her way, Meenu refuses to stay silent. As the story unfolds, she becomes entangled in a complicated conflict involving power, belief and public opinion, setting the stage for a tense thriller where everyone seems to have their own version of the truth.
What makes the trailer particularly intriguing is the way the story moves across a police investigation, courtroom proceedings and media coverage. Each setting appears to offer a different perspective on Meenu and the case surrounding her. Fatima Shaikh plays ACP Jasleen Singh Soni, while Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub takes on the role of Bhalerao. Arjun Mathur, Raghubir Yadav and Ram Kapoor are also part of the ensemble, adding considerable acting firepower to the project.
For Aneet Padda, Hunkkaar: The Roar marks an interesting follow-up after the success and attention she received with Saiyaara. The young actor appears to be embracing a more intense and challenging role, with Meenu carrying much of the emotional weight of the story. The trailer suggests that her character will have to navigate not just an investigation, but also the judgement of a society eager to decide what happened before the complete picture emerges.
The series is directed by Karan D Kapadia, Nitya Mehra and Heeraz Marfatia, with Kapadia and Mehra also credited as its creators. Hunkkaar: The Roar is produced by Birla Studios and Applause Entertainment in association with Purple Pebble Pictures. Priyanka Chopra Jonas serves as Executive Producer, adding another notable name to the project’s impressive creative lineup.
Hunkkaar: The Roar is set to premiere on JioHotstar on September 25. With a gripping crime story, a strong ensemble cast and Aneet Padda taking on a dramatically different role, the series could offer the actor a chance to showcase a side of her talent that audiences have not seen before. After Saiyaara, the roar is certainly getting louder — but this time, it comes wrapped in mystery, suspicion and plenty of courtroom drama.
