The 14th edition of the Dharamshala International Film Festival (DIFF) is all set to take place from October 30 to November 2, 2025, at the Tibetan Children’s Village in Upper Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh. Known as one of India’s most respected platforms for showcasing independent and alternative cinema, DIFF continues to attract global attention for its carefully curated programming and serene mountain setting.
This year’s festival will open with acclaimed filmmaker Neeraj Ghaywan’s much-anticipated film Homebound, starring Ishaan Khatter, Janhvi Kapoor, and Vishal Jethwa. The film has already made waves on the festival circuit and will be India’s official submission for the Oscars 2026. Ghaywan, best known for Masaan and his work in Made in Heaven, brings another emotionally resonant story to screen, and Homebound promises to be a fitting opening for DIFF 2025.
The festival will also feature a robust international lineup, including two notable Australian entries: Lesbian Space Princess, a quirky, genre-bending sci-fi drama, and The Wolves Always Come at Night, a tense psychological thriller that has been selected as Australia’s official entry for the Academy Awards.
DIFF 2025 aims to present a wide range of films—from debut features to masterworks—focusing on bold storytelling and innovative cinematic voices from around the world. As in previous years, the event will include screenings, Q&A sessions, masterclasses, and panel discussions that foster engagement between filmmakers and audiences.
