Yami Gautam Dhar is all set to enter a rather unusual world of fantasy, family drama and spooky fun with Nayyi Navelli. The teaser of the upcoming entertainer was released on Thursday, offering audiences their first glimpse of Yami in a completely new avatar. Set against the colourful chaos of a Meerut household, the film promises a quirky mix of humour, mystery, fantasy and action, with Yami playing a bride who may not be quite as innocent as she appears.

The story begins with a seemingly perfect bride entering the family and turning the household into something close to paradise. But the happy atmosphere takes an unexpected twist when her brother-in-law starts suspecting that his seemingly ideal sister-in-law could actually be a daayan, or witch. His blunt accusation, “bhabhi daayan hai,” becomes the spark that sets off a series of strange and hilarious events, leaving the family wondering what exactly is going on.

While the teaser keeps much of Yami’s character mystery intact, it certainly makes one thing clear — this is not the conventional bride audiences are used to seeing on screen. The actress appears in a striking new avatar as the story jumps between family situations, fantasy elements and action-packed moments. Strange characters and increasingly bizarre circumstances add to the madness, making Nayyi Navelli look like a refreshing change of pace.

The film had already grabbed attention with its first-look poster, unveiled in August. In the poster, Yami was seen in a traditional saree while taking on monsters, instantly hinting at the supernatural world hiding beneath the film’s family-entertainer surface. The movie is produced by Aanand L Rai and Himanshu Sharma, with Himanshu Sharma and Divy Nidhi Sharma credited as writers. G V Prakash Kumar has composed the music.

Nayyi Navelli also boasts an extensive supporting cast, including Addinath M Kothare, Anurag Thakur, Sunita Rajwar, Mita Vashisth, Aaditya Kulshreshth, Susmita Mukherjee, Sonal Jha, Suneel Sinha, Prateek Pachori, Akshat Singh, Babita Pandey, Ajay Pal and Neeraj Singh in pivotal roles. With a mix of familiar performers and an offbeat premise, the film appears to be aiming for a festive entertainer that can appeal to both families and audiences looking for something a little different.

The Yami Gautam-starrer is scheduled to arrive in cinemas across India on October 16, 2026, just ahead of Dussehra. Yami, who was last seen in a cameo in Dhurandhar: The Revenge directed by Aditya Dhar, is also celebrating a major milestone in her career this year after winning her first National Award for her performance in Article 370. Now, with Nayyi Navelli, the actress is swapping political drama for witches, monsters and family chaos — and that unusual combination could make this one of the more intriguing festive releases to watch out for.
