Neon has unveiled a new promotional featurette for Paper Tiger, the upcoming crime drama written and directed by acclaimed filmmaker James Gray. Featuring insights into Gray's vision for the film, the featurette explores the dark underbelly of New York City and introduces a story centred on family, ambition and the dangerous consequences of getting involved with the wrong people. Starring Adam Driver, Miles Teller and Scarlett Johansson, the film is set against the backdrop of 1980s New York and is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on November 13, 2026.

At the heart of Paper Tiger are two brothers whose search for a lucrative business opportunity leads them into a dangerous world they never expected to encounter. Set primarily in Queens, the story follows their involvement in a scheme that appears too good to be true. What begins as a chance to improve their lives soon draws them into the orbit of the Russian mafia, putting their family and personal relationships at risk. As the situation becomes increasingly threatening, the brothers must confront difficult choices that test their loyalty to each other and reveal the true cost of their ambitions.

Adam Driver stars as Gary Pearl, the older brother and a former police officer who now works as a fixer around the city. His younger brother, Irwin, is played by Miles Teller. The two characters find themselves caught in a web of criminal dealings that threatens to destroy the stability of their lives. As the pressure mounts, their relationship becomes central to the film's emotional conflict. Rather than focusing solely on crime and violence, Paper Tiger examines how fear, desperation and difficult decisions can strain even the closest family bonds.

Scarlett Johansson plays Hester, Irwin's wife, whose family is caught in the fallout of the brothers' increasingly dangerous circumstances. Gavin Goudey and Roman Engel play the couple's sons, adding another personal dimension to the story. The cast also includes Victor Ptak as Simeon Bogoyavich, an intimidating Russian mob boss whose involvement raises the stakes for the brothers. With the threat extending beyond the men directly involved in the scheme, the film explores what happens when criminal ambitions begin to endanger an entire household.

The newly released promotional featurette focuses on what Gray describes as the dark underbelly of New York City, offering insight into the themes and atmosphere behind the film. Although it does not rely on conventional behind-the-scenes footage, the featurette gives audiences a better sense of the filmmaker's intentions. Gray, known for films that explore complex characters, family relationships and morally challenging situations, appears to bring those interests to a story shaped by crime and personal conflict. The 1980s setting provides a distinctive backdrop for a drama in which the pursuit of opportunity gradually turns into a struggle for survival.

With a story that combines a crime conspiracy, the threat of organised crime and a family pushed to its limits, Paper Tiger is shaping up to be a tense addition to the upcoming film calendar. The combination of Driver and Teller as brothers, Johansson's role within the family and Gray's direction gives the project a strong ensemble at its centre. As the release date approaches, the new featurette offers an early look at a film where the promise of a better life comes with a dangerous price. Paper Tiger is scheduled for theatrical release on November 13, 2026.
