Actor Trisha Krishnan, who plays a key role in Mani Ratnam’s upcoming film Thug Life, recently shared her thoughts on working with two of Indian cinema’s most revered icons — Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam. Speaking at the Hindi trailer launch event in Mumbai, Trisha opened up about how surreal it was to be a part of a project that brought together two legends she had admired for years.
Recalling her reaction when the film was first announced, Trisha said she was in awe even before being signed on. “I think that is something I knew when they announced the film and I hadn’t even signed it... I knew, wow, this is magic,” she said. For Trisha, the idea of witnessing Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam reunite on a project was exciting enough — being cast in it made it all the more special.
She described the atmosphere on set as something extraordinary, especially watching the silent communication between Haasan and Ratnam. “They would speak with their eyes,” she noted, echoing Kamal Haasan’s own description of their working dynamic. Trisha added that their level of understanding and creative sync inspired the rest of the cast to step up their performances. “We were like, damn, now we have to do some work here and stop them from staring at each other. It was magic,” she said with a smile.
Trisha’s comments capture the admiration and respect shared not just by her but by the entire team witnessing a creative reunion decades in the making. As Thug Life prepares for its worldwide release on June 5, 2025, her reflections offer a glimpse into the emotional and artistic energy driving the film — one powered by trust, legacy, and a shared cinematic vision.
