At a recent promotional event for The Bhootnii, veteran actor Sanjay Dutt shared his excitement and fondness for the upcoming horror-comedy film, which he stars in and also co-produces. The film, written and directed by Sidhaant Sachdev, is slated for release on May 1, 2025, and promises a blend of scares, laughs, and heart.
Speaking candidly about his experience, Dutt said, “I wasn’t asked not to dance in the song—that was the most fun part… I loved it. Fighting with ghosts was exciting! That will become a song of its own. It’s a new concept, and I really enjoyed doing it.” His enthusiasm for the film was evident as he described the unique genre mix and the novelty of the project.
The actor, known for his iconic roles over the decades, also poked fun at his age, saying, “People say, ‘You’ve gotten older now.’ I think I’m a senior… all of these people are like my kids.” Despite the light-hearted remark, he praised the younger cast and crew for their dedication. “Everyone here has worked so hard. The film has been made with passion. Siddhant wrote it beautifully, Deepak ji supported it, and there’s such wonderful talent.”
Highlighting the soul of the story, Dutt described The Bhootnii not just as a horror comedy but as an emotional journey. “The film is scary, yes, but it’s also emotional. Besides being a comic horror, it has soul—and that’s what I really liked about it.” He wrapped up by expressing hope that the film will resonate with audiences: “I thoroughly enjoyed it. I hope the audience likes it too, so we can announce Bhootnii 2 very soon.”
The film also stars Sunny Singh, Mouni Roy, and Palak Tiwari, and is produced by Deepak Mukut and Sanjay Dutt under their respective banners. With its mix of supernatural elements and comedic moments, The Bhootnii looks set to offer a fresh flavor to Hindi cinema.
