Rooted in the philosophy of Black dandyism, Bravehearts draws from a historical tradition where style was wielded as a form of resistance and empowerment. Gupta’s vision pays homage to icons who redefined fashion as a vehicle for self-expression and social defiance. Chief among them is André Leon Talley, the legendary fashion editor and trailblazer, whose advocacy and presence restructured the industry’s gatekeeping. The structured white cape Kiara wore references Talley’s iconic 2010 Met Gala look—both a sartorial shield and symbol of pride.
Central to the design is a hand-moulded gold breastplate shaped like a heart, adorned with ghungroos and crystals. From it rises a smaller heart, representing her unborn child, linked by delicate chains that form a symbolic umbilical cord. The elements evoke protection, heritage, and the sacred continuity of motherhood. It’s a poignant reminder that the pursuit of identity, dignity, and self-expression is generational, echoing through those who come after.
