JioHotstar has released the first official trailer for Chiraiya, an upcoming six-episode Hindi social drama streaming exclusively on March 20, 2026. The series delves into the hidden truths of an ostensibly perfect family, centering on a woman who refuses to stay silent in the face of injustice.
Starring Divya Dutta as Kamlesh, the narrative follows her journey from being the ideal daughter-in-law to confronting unsettling realities within her family. When Kamlesh discovers her sister-in-law Pooja is enduring sexual abuse in her marriage, she faces a moral dilemma: uphold the family’s honour or stand for justice. Sanjay Mishra co-stars, adding depth to the layered family dynamics depicted in the series.
Directed by Shashant Shah and produced by SVF Entertainment, Chiraiya confronts normalized gender injustices, particularly the harmful assumption that marriage implies lifelong consent. Through intimate family moments, wedding rituals, and emotionally charged dialogues, the trailer sets the tone for a series that challenges entrenched patriarchal norms.
The series also features Siddharth Shaw, Prasanna Bisht, Faisal Rashid, Tinnu Anand, Sarita Joshi, and Anjum Saxena, portraying a spectrum of family members whose perspectives clash and converge as Kamlesh’s journey unfolds.
Early reactions to the trailer praise the show for its unflinching approach, emphasizing that silence should not be mistaken for harmony. By highlighting the personal and societal ramifications of marital abuse, Chiraiya aims to spark reflection and conversation around consent, autonomy, and moral courage within Indian households.
