Coming in hot from the haunted halls of Shadyside High, the trailer for Fear Street: Prom Queen has officially arrived, and it's drenched in blood, drama, and prom-night paranoia. The fourth installment in Netflix’s Fear Street franchise is set to premiere on May 23, and if the trailer is anything to go by, it's going to be one unforgettable — and potentially final — dance.
Set during prom season in 1988, the film follows the usual high school hierarchy: a fierce group of queen bees battling it out for the crown with perfectly rehearsed smiles and barely veiled threats. But the glittery competition takes a dark turn when a gutsy outsider unexpectedly makes the prom court — and the other girls begin vanishing one by one. What starts as social warfare quickly spirals into a full-blown horror show, where corsages come with a body count.
The cast is led by India Fowler, Suzanna Son, Fina Strazza, Chris Klein, David Iacono, Ella Rubin, Ariana Greenblatt, Lili Taylor, and Katherine Waterston. Supporting them is a fresh wave of talent including Darrin Baker, Rebecca Ablack, Ilan O’Driscoll, Damian Romeo, Dakota Taylor, Eden Summer Gilmore, Brennan Clost, Cecilia Lee, and Ryan Rosery.
Directed by Matt Palmer, who co-wrote the screenplay with Donald McLeary, the film promises a nostalgic slash-fest with a high school twist. Produced by Chernin Entertainment, Prom Queen is rated R for strong bloody violence and gore, teen drug use, language, and some sexual references — just the way Shadyside fans like it.
