A24 has unveiled a promo video for “Burial,” one of the standout tracks from the highly anticipated film Mother Mary, the latest creation by acclaimed filmmaker David Lowery. The track, performed in-film by Anne Hathaway, marks a key moment in the story of a pop star confronting her past and the complexities of fame, friendship, and artistry.
The film follows the reunion of the fictional iconic pop star “Mother Mary” (Anne Hathaway) with her estranged best friend and former costume designer Sam Anselm (Michaela Coel) on the eve of a major comeback performance. Long-buried wounds and past conflicts resurface, threatening to unravel both their personal and professional lives. The promo track “Burial” captures this tension, blending emotionally raw vocals with an evocative soundscape.

The original soundtrack is composed of songs written and produced by Jack Antonoff and Charli XCX, with additional contributions from FKA Twigs. “Burial” itself was co-written by Hathaway, Antonoff, Charli XCX, and George Daniel, and will be part of an album accompanying the film’s release in April.
