The upcoming series Lukkhe is already building curiosity for its unusual mix of rap culture, crime drama, and emotional storytelling—and according to director Himank Gaur, that’s exactly the point: it refuses to be boxed into any single genre.

Speaking at the Mumbai trailer launch of the series, which is set to stream on Prime Video, Himank Gaur joined the ensemble cast and creative team to break down what audiences should expect from this multi-layered world.

When asked how he would define the show, he made one thing very clear: “I think before stepping into the world of Lukkhe, audiences should try not to define it. Don't define the show too early, because it's one of those shows that doesn't really fit neatly into one box. Because it's a multi-genre come with music, rap, and crime”

He emphasized that Lukkhe is built to unfold gradually rather than be instantly categorized, blending multiple storytelling elements into one evolving experience. “So, just don't try to define it too quickly. Gradually, you will discover the show and you will receive a lot of love from it. The show is also, at its core, about people trying to find their own journey. Some are vulnerable, some are trying to make it big in the rap world. But at the end of the day, I think once you finish the show, you'll realize that this magic we've tried to create is something you'll love, hopefully”

At the heart of Lukkhe is a high-stakes rivalry between two rap artists—MC Badnaam, played by King in his acting debut, and OG, portrayed by Shivankit Parihar. Their conflict drives a narrative filled with ambition, ego, revenge, and crime, set against the backdrop of Chandigarh’s rap scene.

The series also weaves in emotional subplots, including a romance between Lucky and Sanober, played by Lakshvir Singh Saran and Palak Tiwari, adding depth to a story that constantly shifts between intensity and intimacy. With a strong ensemble including Raashii Khanna and Nakul Roshan Sahdev, Lukkhe positions itself as a bold experiment in format and storytelling.

Slated for release on May 8, 2026, the series promises a world where music isn’t just background—it’s the battlefield. And if Himank Gaur’s words are anything to go by, Lukkhe is designed less to be defined and more to be experienced.
