In a world where time is limited and attention spans are shrinking, actor and creator Chetan Hansraj believes that Artificial Intelligence (AI) is not just a trend—it's a necessity. From teaching AI to launching India’s first AI-driven series, Hansraj is leading the charge into the future of entertainment.
“If you’re not using AI today, you’re being left behind,” he says bluntly. “Whether you're a doctor, a lawyer, a writer, or a filmmaker—AI is a tool that can change the game. The whole world is using it. It’s just like a calculator. You can do the math in your head, but you use a calculator to get it done faster. AI is the next step in that progression.”
Hansraj, known for his long-standing association with Balaji Telefilms and Ekta Kapoor, has now ventured into AI animation. “Since February this year, we decided to start a new AI vertical at Balaji. We launched Kaalnagri, India’s first AI series, and it’s doing really well,” he shares. “My relationship with Ekta and Balaji goes back to 2004. They actually made my career. Today, whatever I am, it’s because of them.”
Looking ahead, he hints at more innovation. “We’re working on a new show as we speak. Exciting days are ahead.”
But it's not just about AI—Hansraj is also tapping into how people consume content in today’s fast-paced digital world. Enter Kutingg, a microdrama platform tailored for the short attention spans of modern audiences.
“Today, people are busy. They don't have time to watch long shows. Attention spans are short—they’re used to watching reels,” he explains. “Microdramas are the future. Our platform Kutingg is one of the early players. Each episode is just two minutes long. If you don’t grab someone in the first 10 seconds, they’ll scroll away.”
What makes microdramas so impactful, according to Hansraj, is how they force creators to bring their best to every frame. “It’s actually making filmmakers better. Every minute must have a hook. These stories are tight, engaging, and packed with emotion. It’s like watching YouTube Shorts, but with a powerful story behind it.”
In both his AI work and bite-sized storytelling, Chetan Hansraj is clearly shaping a new era for Indian entertainment—one where speed, creativity, and technology go hand in hand.
“AI is magic,” he concludes. “If you have a vision and want to reach somewhere in life, using these tools properly can help you get there much faster.”
