The trailer of Mandala Murders, the upcoming Netflix crime-thriller series led by Vaani Kapoor, dropped on Tuesday teasing an intense, atmospheric world of ritualistic killings, buried secrets, and unsettling symbols in the sleepy town of Charandaspur.
Directed by Gopi Puthran and Manan Rawat, the series features an ensemble cast including Vaibhav Raj Gupta, Surveen Chawla, Jameel Khan, and Ragubir Yadav. The story follows two detectives, played by Kapoor and Gupta, as they investigate a string of grisly murders tied to an ancient secret society and a mystical force that has haunted the town for generations.
At the trailer launch event, Vaani Kapoor opened up about the collaborative and creative environment on set that helped her bring depth to her character. Reflecting on the experience, she shared, “While we were on set and off set, how we all interacted, there was a lot of room for discovery, which is very exciting. I remember when I was narrated the script, during the readings, my director used to ask, ‘How do you see it? What’s your version? Let’s collaborate.’ He wanted to get something out of me, to understand how I could contribute to this character, to the story… what something authentic I could bring to the table and he wanted to marry his version to me.”
Kapoor also praised the series' directors, Manan Rawat and Gopi Puthran, calling them her “biggest strength” throughout the project. “Couldn’t have asked for better colleagues and cast members,” she said. “Everyone has been incredibly fantastic, Surveen, Vaibhav. I just genuinely feel good people with good energy and the right intention came together to create something with a lot of love.”
Produced by YRF Entertainment, with Aditya Chopra, Uday Chopra, Yogendra Mogre, and Akshaye Widhani as executive producers, Mandala Murders promises a dark, gripping narrative wrapped in mythology, politics, and suspense.
Mandala Murders will premiere on Netflix on July 25.
