Bollywood actor Shilpa Shetty has stepped forward for a noble cause by officially launching a new Mega Animal Ambulance initiative in Mumbai. The emergency vehicle was unveiled outside Sunny Super Sound in Juhu, with the aim of providing immediate medical assistance, rescue support, and care for injured, sick, and distressed stray animals across the community.
The initiative has been launched by the Arjun Kandhari Foundation and focuses on strengthening emergency animal welfare services for street animals. The specially equipped ambulance will work as a mobile medical response unit, helping injured animals receive timely attention and basic treatment during critical situations.
Speaking at the launch event, Shilpa Shetty expressed her support for the initiative and shared how witnessing distressing visuals of injured street animals motivated her to contribute towards the cause. The actor highlighted that quick access to emergency medical care remains one of the biggest challenges in animal welfare, and initiatives like these can help bridge that gap.
The launch event also marked the beginning of a major community vaccination drive aimed at improving the health and safety of stray dogs. Under the campaign, 1,001 stray dogs will be vaccinated with anti-rabies and 9-in-1 vaccines, helping protect animals while also promoting safer communities.
Designed as a mobile rescue facility, the Mega Animal Ambulance is equipped with essential medical support features, including basic medical boxes, cold storage facilities, and tools to stabilise animals in distress at the rescue location itself. The initiative aims to ensure that injured animals do not have to wait for help during emergencies.
The flag-off ceremony witnessed the presence of local volunteers, animal lovers, and community members who came together to support the launch. Their participation highlighted the importance of collective efforts in creating a more compassionate environment for animals living on the streets.
