Netflix India has dropped an intriguing teaser for Akka, its upcoming female-led gangster thriller starring Keerthy Suresh and Radhika Apte. Packed with power plays, simmering rivalries and the promise of danger, the series introduces a world where women call the shots and outsiders could threaten everything they have built. Netflix India teased the series with the line, “Government of elders. Rule of sisters. And the shadow of danger looming over them!” The series will premiere on October 30, 2026, exclusively on Netflix.
Released on October 17 as a special birthday treat for Keerthy Suresh and her fans, the teaser offers a glimpse into the intense world of Akka. Keerthy plays Bhavani, while Radhika steps into the role of Rudra. With two formidable performers at the heart of the story, the series promises a gripping face-off shaped by ambition, loyalty and the struggle to hold on to power.
Set in the 1980s in the fictional town of Pernuru, Akka unfolds in a matriarchal society shaped by generations of women who have built, governed and protected their kingdom. Their established order faces a fresh threat, setting the stage for a tense battle of survival. In this world, power is inherited, guarded and challenged, with the looming danger threatening to change the rules for everyone involved.
Produced by YRF Entertainment, Akka is being positioned as an epic gangster saga that puts women firmly at the centre of the action. Rather than following a familiar crime-drama template, the series explores a world where female authority drives the narrative, and rivalries could prove just as dangerous as external enemies. The teaser hints at a layered story of power, conflict and survival, with Bhavani and Rudra at its core.
The project also marks the directorial debut of Dharmaraj Shetty, who has written the series as well. For Keerthy Suresh, Akka marks her streaming debut, adding another milestone to her career as she steps into the world of long-form storytelling. The collaboration also marks YRF Entertainment’s third project with Netflix, strengthening the production house’s association with the streaming platform.
With its period setting, female-led gangster world and two compelling actors leading the charge, Akka is shaping up to be an intriguing addition to Netflix’s upcoming slate. The teaser has set the stage for a story where sisterhood and authority collide with danger, leaving viewers to wonder who will emerge victorious when the fight for control begins. Akka premieres on October 30, 2026, only on Netflix.
