Bollywood singer and composer Sachin Sanghvi, known for his work on hit films like Stree 2 and Bhediya, has been arrested by Mumbai Police for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman under the pretext of offering her a role in a music album and promising marriage.
According to police officials, Sanghvi was taken into custody on Thursday evening and booked under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The complainant, a woman in her 20s, told police that she came into contact with Sanghvi in February 2024 after he allegedly messaged her on Instagram. The woman claimed that Sanghvi lured her with professional promises before committing the alleged assault.
Authorities have stated that the investigation is ongoing, and Sanghvi is expected to be produced before a court for further proceedings.
Sanghvi, part of the popular composer duo Sachin–Jigar, has been a key figure in Bollywood’s music scene for over a decade, known for crafting chart-topping hits across genres. As of now, there has been no official statement from Sanghvi or his legal team.
Police said they are verifying the allegations and gathering evidence, including digital communication between the accused and the complainant.
