Netflix has just dropped the main official trailer for The Great Flood, and—brace yourself—it looks like the apocalypse has decided to go all-in on water this time. Forget zombies, asteroids, or rogue AI; Korea said, “Let’s drown the world… cinematically.” And honestly? It’s looking gloriously dramatic.

Set on what may be Earth’s final day (no pressure), the film throws us into a life-or-death scramble as a cataclysmic flood swallows everything in sight. Trapped inside a sinking apartment building, researcher An Na (Kim Da-mi) and her son cling to survival while the world outside turns into the world’s least fun water park. Enter Hee-jo (Park Hae-soo), a member of a human resource security team who appears determined— suspiciously determined—to save An Na. Why her? Why now? Why does he look like he knows something we don’t? Suspense, thy name is Park Hae-soo.

This isn’t your typical disaster flick. The Great Flood blends sci-fi, survival, and “my building is literally sinking while I argue with you” energy. An Na’s background in AI development hints that something much bigger is at stake—like maybe humanity’s entire fate. Meanwhile, Hee-jo seems to be on a secret mission that’s raising eyebrows and heart rates in equal measure.

Directed and written by Byung-woo Kim, the movie looks like a soaked, suspense-packed blockbuster that might have you reconsidering your faith in umbrellas. With emotional stakes rising as fast as the water level, this might be one of Netflix’s most gripping end-of-the-world tales yet.

The Great Flood hits Netflix on December 19th, 2025. Prepare your snacks… and maybe your floaties.
