Some stories don’t just entertain — they confront. The trailer of Accused, headlined by Konkona Sen Sharma and Pratibha Ranta, dropped today, promising a psychologically layered drama that dives deep into sexual harassment, workplace power dynamics, and queer relationships. Set in London, the film follows expert surgeon Geetika and her partner Meera — both doctors — whose lives spiral when Geetika is accused of sexual harassment just as the couple prepares to adopt a child.

At the heart of Accused is Meera, played by Pratibha Ranta, a character caught in an emotional crossfire. Speaking about stepping into such sensitive terrain, Pratibha shared, “Playing Meera meant living in that uncomfortable grey area where you know the truth but your heart isn't ready to let go yet. She’s fragile, flawed, and so deeply human. I’m honestly just grateful that Netflix is a space where we can tell these kinds of layered, complicated stories where women don't have to be perfect to be real.” Her words echo the very essence of the trailer — messy emotions, moral dilemmas, and no easy answers.

The narrative doesn’t shy away from discomfort. It examines how accusations impact not just reputations but intimate bonds, particularly within a queer relationship already navigating societal pressures. Meera’s journey is described as a rollercoaster — grappling with love, doubt, loyalty, and self-respect. As Pratibha hints, the character undergoes a full emotional arc, making Accused less about scandal and more about personal reckoning.

Director Anubhuti Kashyap revealed she had Pratibha in mind for the role after being impressed by her performance in Laapataa Ladies. “Pratibha fit the part well, not just because of her performance but also with her energy and looks,” Kashyap shared. That instinct seems to have paid off, as the trailer showcases a restrained yet powerful turn from the young actress.

Produced by Dharmatic Entertainment, and written by Sima Agarwal and Yash Keswani, Accused premieres on Netflix on February 27. If the trailer is anything to go by, this is a story about vulnerability, accountability, and the radical idea that women — on screen and off — don’t need to be perfect to be believed.
