Simratt Kaur Randhawa, who rose to fame with her impactful role in Gadar 2 and later proved her acting mettle in Vanvaas, is once again capturing audience attention — this time in The Bengal Files. The actress plays the role of young Bharati Banerjee in the film, a performance that adds yet another strong character to her growing filmography.
Speaking about her experience working with director Vivek Agnihotri, Simratt was all praise for his knowledge, clarity, and passion for storytelling. “Vivek sir is incredibly knowledgeable. Once the shoot would wrap up for the day, I’d often go sit with him and just talk — not just about the film, but about anything really. Science, cinema, current affairs… he has an answer for everything. His insights are so deep and engaging, I just wanted to keep learning from him.”
The actress also highlighted how prepared and precise the filmmaker was on set: “Before the shoot even began, he had done just one script reading and knew exactly what he wanted. He gave clear instructions, had a sharp vision of how each scene should look, and communicated it without any confusion. He’s very easy to work with because he’s so clear in his direction.”
Simratt, who admits she usually has a habit of questioning everything on set, said that with Agnihotri, she often found herself simply trusting his process. “I’m someone who always asks, ‘Why are we doing this scene like this?’ But with Vivek sir, half the time I would just follow his direction without second-guessing, because he’s so sure of what he wants. He would just say, ‘Do it,’ and that clarity gave me confidence.”
The Bengal Files is a thought-provoking drama directed by Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri, known for his socially impactful storytelling. The film, featuring Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty, Pallavi Joshi, and Simratt Kaur, released in theatres on 5th September 2025.
