Brace your hearts—because Dhadak 2 is here to stir emotions and ignite conversations. The trailer for the much-anticipated romantic drama dropped today, and it's as intense, layered, and socially relevant as fans hoped. A spiritual sequel to the 2018 hit Dhadak, this new story takes a more grounded, hard-hitting turn. Directed by Shazia Iqbal, the film stars Siddhant Chaturvedi, Triptii Dimri, and Ashish Chaudhary, and is set for a theatrical release on 1st August 2025.
Set against the backdrop of caste and class divides, Dhadak 2 follows Neelesh (Siddhant), a determined young man from an oppressed caste, who enters law college full of dreams and dignity. There, he forms a deep bond with Vidhi (Triptii), a student from an upper-caste family. What begins as an innocent friendship soon draws the wrath of Vidhi’s powerful and prejudiced family, dragging Neelesh into a harsh reality marked by systemic oppression and silent violence.
Unlike the glossy love story of its predecessor, Dhadak 2—adapted from the critically acclaimed Tamil film Pariyerum Perumal—leans into gritty realism. The trailer showcases raw emotions, poignant silences, and burning questions about identity and justice. Shazia Iqbal, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Rahul Badwelkar, brings a fiercely authentic voice to the narrative, blending romance with social commentary in a way that feels both urgent and poetic.
Backed by Dharma Productions, Zee Studios, and Cloud 9 Pictures, and produced by Karan Johar, Umesh Kumar Bansal, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, Meenu Aroraa, Somen Mishra, and Pragati Deshmukh, Dhadak 2 is more than just a love story—it’s a call for empathy in a divided world. With music, emotion, and resistance pulsing through every frame, this one begins with a धड़क… but it might just end in a roar.
