Lionsgate has officially dropped the chilling trailer for The Strangers: Chapter 2, the next installment in the terrifying horror trilogy helmed entirely by genre veteran Renny Harlin. This latest chapter, slated to hit theaters on September 26, 2025, continues to breathe new, blood-curdling life into the infamous masked-killer saga that began with Bryan Bertino’s 2008 cult hit.
Starring Madelaine Petsch (Riverdale), Gabriel Basso (The Night Agent), and Ema Horvath (The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power), the film is neither a strict sequel nor prequel. Instead, it’s a re-imagining — one that heightens the tension, violence, and raw fear of the original, while pushing the narrative into even darker, more relentless territory.
In Chapter 2, a young couple (Petsch and Froy Gutierrez) find themselves stranded in a remote and unsettling small town after their car breaks down. Forced to seek shelter in a desolate cabin, their night quickly devolves into a nerve-shredding nightmare as they're hunted by three masked assailants—merciless, unrelenting, and seemingly without motive. The trailer teases claustrophobic terror, heart-stopping chases, and a tone soaked in dread.
The screenplay is penned by Alan R. Cohen and Alan Freedland, based on a story by Bryan Bertino, who created the original. With Renny Harlin at the helm and Lionsgate backing the trilogy approach, The Strangers: Chapter 2 promises to be a raw, stylish, and unforgiving expansion of a franchise that continues to prey on our deepest fears: being watched, being hunted, and being completely alone.
