At the trailer launch for the film, Vikrant Massey spoke candidly about why he chose to be a part of the project. "One of the main reasons I came on board was because of the research and depth behind the story," he shared. "When this story was shared with me, the amount of research material provided was overwhelming. I was thinking about how even my kids at my own home, in my family, know so little about this incident, even though it happened 22 years ago. It's all available on the internet, yet we don't talk about it. Everyone talks about the Godhra riots, people from abroad have commented on it, but no one has really addressed its genesis—how it all started."
The 2002 Godhra train burning incident, in which 59 people were killed when a train compartment was set on fire in Gujarat, is often seen as the trigger for some of the most violent communal riots in the country’s history.
Directed by Ranjan Chandel, later replaced by Dheeraj Sarna, the film is a gripping political thriller that aims to present a detailed, factual account of the incident. Featuring an impressive cast, including Vikrant Massey, Raashii Khanna, and Riddhi Dogra, the film promises to take audiences on a journey that examines the sociopolitical forces at play during that tumultuous time.
