Shehnaaz Gill’s highly anticipated Punjabi film Ikk Kudi has officially been postponed in light of the devastating floods currently wreaking havoc across Punjab. Originally slated for release on September 19, the film will now arrive in theatres on October 31, 2025. The decision comes as a mark of solidarity with the people affected by the floods, which have impacted 23 districts and displaced over 3.5 lakh residents.
Taking to Instagram, Shehnaaz shared the news alongside a fresh poster for the film. In an official statement, the team behind Ikk Kudi expressed that they felt a moral and emotional responsibility to stand by the people of Punjab during such “challenging times.” The note further added that the team is coordinating with NGOs and relief organisations to provide aid where possible. “With God’s grace, we will do our best to support Punjab,” the statement read. “We stand with Punjab.”
Ikk Kudi is produced under the banners of Raaya Picturez, Amor Films, and Shehnaaz Gill Productions, and marks one of Shehnaaz’s most personal projects to date. She also serves as co-producer alongside Kaushal Joshi and Amarjit Singh Saron, who also wrote and directed the film. Adding star power to its release, Dharma Productions—headed by Karan Johar—is handling its worldwide distribution.
The film was first announced in November 2024, with fans eagerly awaiting updates ever since. Pictures from the first day of shooting had gone viral, adding to the excitement around Shehnaaz’s return to Punjabi cinema. Given her ever-growing popularity and emotional connect with her audience, the decision to delay the release has been met with support and praise across social media.
As the floodwaters continue to disrupt lives and livelihoods in Punjab, the Ikk Kudi team’s gesture stands as a reminder of how the film industry can lead with empathy in moments of real-world crisis.
