Prime Video has just released the first look teaser trailer for Like A Dragon: Yakuza, a live-action adaptation of SEGA’s beloved video game series Yakuza. Fans of the franchise and newcomers alike are in for an exciting treat as the series brings the gritty, dramatic world of modern Japan's criminal underworld to life.
Like A Dragon: Yakuza promises to be a thrilling exploration of the intense characters and high-stakes drama that define the Yakuza universe. Set against the backdrop of Tokyo’s underbelly, the series follows Kazuma Kiryu and other central figures as they navigate a world fraught with danger and intrigue.
The teaser gives a glimpse into the series' dark and immersive portrayal of Japan’s criminal underworld. The storyline is heavily inspired by the latest Yakuza game, which focuses on Ichiban Kasuga, a low-ranking yakuza member who faces an 18-year prison sentence after taking the fall for a crime he did not commit. As Kasuga, portrayed by Ryoma Takeuchi, becomes an unlikely hero for Tokyo's outcasts, the series delves into themes of redemption, betrayal, and the quest for justice.
Like A Dragon: Yakuza is crafted by a talented team, with Sean Crouch and Yugo Nakamura at the helm as creators and writers. Crouch is known for his work on The Exorcist TV series, while Nakamura brings a strong background in Japanese storytelling. The series is directed by Masaharu Take and Kengo Takimoto, both renowned for their skill in crafting compelling action sequences and intricate narratives.
