Priyanshu Painyuli, known for his nuanced performances and ability to slip seamlessly into diverse roles, has his eyes set on something deeply personal and creatively challenging: a biopic. But not just any biopic—he dreams of portraying real-life legends whose stories have left a lasting impact on him, both as an actor and as an individual.
In a recent conversation, Priyanshu opened up about his passion for sports and cinema, revealing two iconic figures he would be thrilled to portray on screen: Rahul Dravid, the gentleman cricketer, and Rajesh Khanna, Bollywood’s first megastar.
“I’ve played cricket professionally in my younger days,” Priyanshu shared. “I was a wicketkeeper-batsman and trained under Syed Kirmani’s camp. Rahul Dravid would sometimes come to train us. I’ve seen him closely—his calm demeanor, his discipline, his technique—it always fascinated me. I’m a huge fan. If there’s ever a biopic on Dravid, I’d love to be a part of it. That would be a dream role, something I’d work really hard for.”
His sporting background gives him a unique edge when it comes to bringing authenticity to an athlete’s story on screen. Priyanshu emphasized that it’s not just about physical resemblance, but about embodying the values and spirit of the person. He expressed a strong desire to work in any biopic based on athletes or sports figures, given his personal connection to that world.
But his admiration doesn’t stop at the cricket pitch. Priyanshu is equally drawn to the golden era of Bollywood, and one name stands tall in his list—Rajesh Khanna.
“Rajesh Khanna's journey is incredible. He was the first true superstar of Indian cinema. There was a distinct aura about him—something magnetic that no one else had. If someone is making a biopic on him, I’d love to be part of that. His life is pure cinematic gold.”
Whether it’s the calm, collected legacy of Dravid or the dazzling rise and emotional depth of Khanna, Priyanshu Painyuli finds inspiration in stories that are layered, real, and human.
Already respected for his performances in films like Extraction and Rashmi Rocket, Priyanshu continues to choose roles that challenge him. With his dedication, background in sports, and a deep respect for cinematic history, he seems more than ready to step into the shoes of these legendary icons.
