Paramount / Republic Pictures has unveiled the sleek and sinister first trailer for Shell, a dark comedy horror with a wickedly glossy edge. Directed by Max Minghella, the film marks a chilling dive into the world of beauty, fame, and the price of perfection—led by none other than Elisabeth Moss and Kate Hudson.
Moss stars as Samantha, a struggling actress with talent, grit, and just enough self-doubt to make her the perfect target for Shell, a futuristic wellness company offering miracle youth treatments. Pressured by her agent and seduced by the billboards glowing with promises of transformation, Samantha signs up—and it works. Her career begins to rebound, her confidence soars, and she’s even noticed by Zoe Shannon (played with high-gloss menace by Kate Hudson), the dazzling, enigmatic CEO of Shell.
But this is no fairy tale. As Samantha’s star rises, her grip on reality begins to slip. Chloe (Kaia Gerber), a friend and fellow client, goes missing. Odd symptoms creep in. And the labs behind Shell's miracle cure start to seem less like a beauty clinic and more like a nightmare. What follows is a stylized descent into paranoia, identity, and a razor-sharp commentary on society's obsession with youth.
Rounding out the cast are Arian Moayed, Este Haim, Elizabeth Berkley, and more, in what promises to be a genre-blending ride filled with biting satire, sleek horror aesthetics, and more than a few sharp twists.
With a screenplay by Jack Stanley, Shell looks like Black Mirror meets Death Becomes Her, with a dash of Get Out—and it’s primed to be this October’s most talked-about thriller.
Shell hits theaters on October 3rd, 2025—right in time for spooky season.
