Hulu is bringing the gridiron giggles this fall with the debut of the official trailer for their brand-new half-hour comedy series, “Chad Powers.” Slated to stream from September 30, 2025, this sports-meets-slapstick romp stars Glen Powell in a role that’s part college jock, part con man, and 100% comedy gold.
The story follows Russ Holliday, a cocky, ultra-talented quarterback whose college career goes up in flames thanks to—you guessed it—bad behavior. But instead of quitting, Russ cooks up a wild plan: he dons prosthetics and re-invents himself as “Chad Powers”, a loveable underdog who walks onto a flailing Southern football team. Think The Waterboy meets White Chicks, but with a surprising amount of heart and some serious touchdown energy.
Based on the viral Chad Powers sketch that aired on ESPN+ as part of Eli Manning’s “Eli’s Places”—yes, that’s right, this whole show was born from a Manning Brothers joke—the concept has now evolved into a full-blown comedy series from 20th Television, NFL Films, and Omaha Productions.
Joining Powell is a strong ensemble including Perry Mattfeld, Quentin Plair, Wynn Everett, Frankie A. Rodriguez, and the always-iconic Steve Zahn. And yes, football fans—there are sure to be cameos, Easter eggs, and sports references galore.
Glen Powell, fresh off action hits and rom-coms, created the show alongside Michael Waldron (Loki, Doctor Strange 2). The duo co-wrote the pilot, with additional writing from Adam Fasullo. Episodes are directed by Payman Benz (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) and Tony Yacenda (American Vandal), promising a slick mix of sports drama, absurdity, and unexpected emotion.
With fake mustaches, fake names, and very real laughs, Chad Powers is shaping up to be the surprise comedy MVP of the season.
