Actor-producer Vijay Antony has unveiled a striking new promotional video for his upcoming film Pookie, perfectly capturing the emotional exhaustion of modern relationships. Sharing the clip, he captioned it, “A day in the life of #Pookie. The endless cycle… because clearly we don’t learn,” while confirming the film’s worldwide release on February 13, just in time for Valentine’s Day weekend.
The promo offers a raw, almost unfiltered look into the protagonist’s daily routine—constant phone calls, endless social media scrolling and fleeting moments of quiet heartbreak. Rather than dramatic dialogues, the montage leans on silence and repetition, underlining the idea of emotional loops we knowingly step into, again and again. It’s subtle, relatable and quietly unsettling.
Directed by Ganesh Chandhrra, who also serves as the film’s cinematographer, Pookie stars Ajay Dhishan—Vijay Antony’s nephew—in the lead role, alongside RK Dhanusha. The film is produced under the Vijay Antony Film Corporation, with Fatima Vijay Antony backing the project, while Vijay Antony himself handles the music and editing.
Described as the “Bible of Breakups,” Pookie explores the fragile space between letting go and holding on. The story follows a couple who mutually decide to separate, only to realise they aren’t ready to lose each other. What follows is an emotional tug-of-war between reconciliation and closure, making the film a romantic comedy with surprisingly heavy emotional weight.
The supporting cast adds further texture to the narrative, featuring seasoned performers like Pandiarajan, Lakshmi Manchu and Telugu star Sunil, who reportedly plays a spiritual mentor offering unconventional love advice. The bilingual Tamil-Telugu format is expected to widen the film’s appeal across audiences.
Music has already emerged as a major talking point. Fans are calling it an “OG Vijay Antony vibe,” especially after the release of Manasu Valikithu, a breakup anthem sung by Vijay Antony and Kharesma Ravichandran, along with a quirky love-advice track that boosted pre-release buzz. With its emotionally honest promos and Valentine’s-timed release, Pookie looks set to resonate with anyone who’s loved, lost—and repeated the same mistake anyway.
