Vidhatri Bandi has already shown her versatility with roles in Jalsa, The Diplomat, Shiddat and Max, Min and Meowzaki, but the actress now has her eyes set on a very different kind of challenge. During a recent media interaction, Vidhatri revealed that she would love to headline a film centred around classical dance, and when the conversation turned to Shraddha Kapoor’s upcoming Eetha, she admitted that a project like that would be a dream role for her.
Asked specifically about the kind of role she is desperately waiting for someone to offer her, Vidhatri was quick to name a classical dancer. “Many are, but like if I would want to say classical dancer. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, I'm not a trained classical dancer, but I know that,” she said. Her interest became even more evident when she was asked about Eetha, the Shraddha Kapoor-starrer that has sparked curiosity with its dance-centric premise.
“Oh God. Yeah. Like that would be such a cool thing to play. Like I would just want to do a film where there would be just like months of dance rehearsals and then you go shoot. I've always dreamt of something like that where I would just be focused on dancing. I love dancing,” Vidhatri said. The actress clearly sees a classical dance film as an opportunity to completely immerse herself in the art form and prepare extensively before stepping in front of the camera.
While Vidhatri is not a trained classical dancer, she revealed that she has experimented with several dance styles over the years. “Unfortunately, I'm very on and off with it, you know. There are times like I will rigorously train for like six months, trying to get a perfect—trying to get some form right. I've done classical for a month, I've done hip-hop for like three months, then I've done like dancing in heels, stilettos, for six months,” she shared. Her varied experiences have also made her confident about taking on a demanding choreography-heavy role if given enough preparation time.
“I keep doing these things and I know that I'm very good at rehearsal. I'm not one of those dancers who can just see once and get it. I've not reached that level yet. But I know if I get like two-three days to rehearse a choreography, I know I'll be able to do it. That much confidence I have in myself,” Vidhatri explained. She further emphasised her love for the classical form, saying, “So I've always been like, I want to do something classical mainly. I absolutely love anything classical. So yeah.”
Apart from her dance aspirations, Vidhatri also reflected on the characters she has played recently and the personalities she connects with. “Malayali journalist from Jalsa, I think, you know, that hustling thing and being all of that. And yeah, I would say Rohini. Very different personalities, though. But yeah, I would say Rohini is someone I would, or even Carol from Max, Min and Meowzaki also to an extent. Not—I think Carol's practicality and just how sometimes easy-going she is. I resonate very effortlessly with those traits.” For now, though, the prospect of stepping into the world of classical dance, much like the one she associates with Shraddha Kapoor’s Eetha, appears to be one of the roles Vidhatri is most eager to explore.
