Universal Pictures UK has unveiled the first official trailer for Finding Emily, a charming new romantic comedy set to open in UK cinemas this May. Timed perfectly for Valentine’s week, the trailer promises laughs, love, and campus chaos, centering on a lovesick musician who gets the wrong number for the girl of his dreams.
The plot follows Spike Fearn’s character, a lovestruck musician, as he teams up with an ambitious psychology student, played by Angourie Rice, to track down the mysterious Emily around their university campus. Their search sparks a campus-wide frenzy, blending romance and comedy while testing their hearts, ambitions, and sense of reason. Supporting the duo are Minnie Driver, Ella Maisy Purvis, Yali Topol Margalith, Kat Ronney, Timothy Innes, and Nadia Parkes, rounding out a lively ensemble.
Director Alicia MacDonald makes her feature film debut after a successful career in British television, directing episodes of Pure, Flack, The Outlaws, SisterS, and Too Much. Her experience with witty, character-driven storytelling shines through in Finding Emily, bringing a playful and heartfelt energy to the campus rom-com formula. The screenplay is penned by Rachel Hirons, promising clever dialogue and relatable romance hijinks.
