Veteran actress Trisha Krishnan has spoken out against a distasteful comment circulating in the media, clarifying her neutral political stance and condemning public disrespect. The statement, issued via her advocate Nithyaesh Natraj, was prompted by a remark from Tamil Nadu BJP chief K. Annamalai, who mocked actor Vijay’s political inexperience by making a crass comparison to Trisha, implying naivety.
Trisha’s press note read in part: “This is with reference to the distasteful comment about my client which is circulating in the media. My client never expected that such distasteful and inappropriate remark would be made by a person holding a high stature in the State's political space. My client makes it very clear that she is not affiliated with any political party neither does she intend to be.”
She continued, emphasizing her focus on her craft: “Further, just as my client had continuously maintained in the past, she has always taken a neutral stand when it comes to politics. My client wishes to be defined only by her craft and not by any alleged political alignment.” The statement also stressed the importance of keeping personal lives out of public commentary and urged public figures to act responsibly: “It is expected that persons holding high positions maintain responsibility and equanimity in public discourse. It is requested that my client's name not be drawn into matters that do not concern her.”
The response was shared on social media by a fan account, quickly garnering attention with 218 likes and 23 replies. Fans praised Trisha for addressing the “disrespectful” remarks, celebrating her assertiveness and condemning the misogynistic undertones in the political jibe.
Trisha’s post underscores a growing expectation that public figures, especially in politics, exercise caution and respect when speaking about others, particularly women in the entertainment industry. Her insistence on neutrality and professional identity reaffirms her stance as an actress first, refusing to be dragged into political controversies.
With her legal statement now public, Trisha Krishnan sets a strong precedent in calling out inappropriate comments, sending a clear message that respect and accountability should never be negotiable in public discourse.
