Known for her intense and layered roles, Shalini Pandey is stepping into uncharted territory with her latest film, Rahu Ketu, and the actress isn’t holding back about the experience. Talking candidly, she revealed how this role challenged and thrilled her like never before: “I wouldn't say they were very intense. They're very layered and, like, in their own way. The most very, like, different from what I did right now in this film. Also, in the minor comedy genre, like, it's how we're all talking about it. It's not a film where comedy is happening because the situation is like this, but everyone has their own unique characters, everyone is crazy in their own way,” Shalini said.
She didn’t stop there, diving into why this role felt so freeing: “And to play me, no, I've never played that layer of a woman in cinema until now. I've played different layers of women. But this, and she is also intense, yes. It's not that she isn't intense. She is pretty intense, but she is intense in her own way. And in a lot of things, she is very liberated. She is very unapologetic. She does what she has to do. She doesn't care about it. She gets what she needs done. She's that sharp. So to play that layer of a woman, it was really liberating. And to play that unapologetically confident woman on screen was really liberating.”
Shalini, who first won hearts in Arjun Reddy, and later impressed in Meri Nimmo, Jayeshbhai Jordaar, Maharaj, and Idli Kadai, now flexes her comedic chops in a fresh avatar that combines boldness, humor, and empowerment.
Directed and written by Vipul Vig, Rahu Ketu is a comedy-adventure inspired by folklore, weaving humor, fantasy, and Indian cultural elements. Produced by Umesh Kumar Bansal, Pragati Deshmukh, Suraj Singh, and Varsha Kukreja under Zee Studios and BLive Productions, the film also stars Pulkit Samrat, Varun Sharma, and Chunky Panday.
With Rahu Ketu, Shalini Pandey boldly reinvents herself — proving she can be funny, fierce, liberated, and unapologetically confident all at once. Her statement alone promises audiences a performance that is as entertaining as it is electrifying.
