The excitement around Rajinikanth’s upcoming Tamil film Dharman: The Deadly Doctor has gone up another notch as the makers have officially announced the beginning of the film’s second shooting schedule. The announcement came through Magizhmandram, which shared a striking video accompanied by the tagline, “THE DEADLY DOCTOR. Dharman Schedule 2 Begins, and this one's LEGENDARY.”

The 35-second video immediately sets an intense tone, opening with production logos before building towards the film's title reveal. It also features striking visuals of Kamal Haasan from behind, followed by the words “Superstar” in both English and Tamil. The presentation adds to the anticipation surrounding a project that brings together two of the biggest names in Indian cinema, with Haasan backing the film and Rajinikanth leading it.

Titled Dharman, and also marketed as Dharman: The Deadly Doctor, the film is an upcoming Tamil action thriller written and directed by Ashwath Marimuthu. The project stars Rajinikanth in the lead, with Simran, Raashii Khanna and Yogi Babu also part of the cast. The mysterious “Deadly Doctor” tagline has already sparked curiosity about the nature of Rajinikanth's character and the world the film is set to explore.

The film is being presented and produced by Kamal Haasan, alongside R. Mahendran, under Raaj Kamal Films International, with Turmeric Media also involved in the production. The collaboration makes the project particularly exciting, as Haasan and Rajinikanth continue to remain two of the most influential forces in Indian cinema even decades after their careers began.

Dharman has also had an interesting journey before reaching its current form. The project was originally announced in September 2025 under the tentative title Thalaivar 173. Sundar C was initially attached as director, but later opted out. Cibi Chakravathi was subsequently announced as his replacement before Ashwath Marimuthu took over in June 2026, when the film's official title was also revealed.

Adding further strength to the film's technical team is composer Anirudh Ravichander, who is responsible for the music. Niketh Bommi handles cinematography, while Pradeep E. Ragav is on board as editor. With a combination of Rajinikanth's screen presence, Ashwath's filmmaking style and Anirudh's energetic musical sensibilities, the film has all the ingredients of a major Tamil cinema spectacle.

The announcement of Schedule 2 suggests that production is progressing steadily, while the makers are carefully building the film's identity without revealing too much about the storyline. The phrase “The Deadly Doctor” and the intense visuals point towards a darker and potentially unconventional side of Rajinikanth, making the character one of the biggest talking points surrounding the project.

The film also reunites an extraordinary creative ecosystem associated with Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth, with the latest announcement featuring names such as Anirudh Ravichander, Anbariv, Yogi Babu, Simran, Raashii Khanna and several other key technicians and collaborators. The makers are clearly positioning Dharman as a large-scale entertainer while keeping its central mystery under wraps.

With its second schedule now underway, Dharman: The Deadly Doctor is steadily moving closer to becoming one of the most anticipated Tamil films on the horizon. A Superstar-led action thriller backed by Kamal Haasan, directed by Ashwath Marimuthu and powered by Anirudh's music certainly has the potential to create a major buzz once the makers begin unveiling more from the film.
