Peacock has dropped a first-look teaser for its upcoming comedy-drama series The Miniature Wife, and let’s just say—marriage has never looked this small or this messy. Arriving on streaming this April, the series puts a clever, modern spin on the Honey, I Shrunk the Kids concept, blending sci-fi absurdity with razor-sharp relationship drama. When a technological mishap literally shrinks Lindy, the show turns an already fragile marriage into a full-blown power experiment, with hilarious and uncomfortable results.

Starring Elizabeth Banks as Lindy and Matthew Macfadyen as her husband Les, the series explores what happens when control, dependency, and resentment are no longer metaphorical—but physical. As Lindy’s size decreases, the balance of power in the marriage grows increasingly skewed, forcing both partners to confront long-ignored cracks in their relationship. It’s funny, yes, but also biting, awkward, and surprisingly emotional in all the right ways.

The Miniature Wife is based on the short story by Manuel Gonzales, known for blending fantastical premises with painfully real human emotions. His original story dives into guilt, reinvention, and the deep instinct to protect—or dominate—the people we love. The series seems to honor that spirit, using its sci-fi hook as a mirror for very real marital missteps and emotional blind spots. Shrinking, it turns out, is just another form of emotional exposure.

Behind the scenes, the show boasts serious creative firepower. It’s created, written, and showrun by Jennifer Ames and Steve Turner, the duo behind gritty favorites like Banshee, Ash vs Evil Dead, and Goliath. Episodes are directed by Greg Mottola and Bertie Ellwood, adding a sharp comedic edge to the high-concept drama. The supporting cast is equally stacked, featuring Zoe Lister-Jones, Ronny Chieng, Aasif Mandvi, O-T Fagbenle, Sian Clifford, and more.

Set to stream on Peacock starting April 9th, 2026, The Miniature Wife already looks like a bold, strange, and surprisingly timely take on modern marriage. Is it a relationship comedy? A sci-fi allegory? A battle of egos in a dollhouse? Maybe all three. One thing’s certain: this is one tiny show making a very big statement—and we definitely need to see more footage.
