The countdown to the ultimate Bollywood romantic comedy-drama of the year has officially begun! The starry, star-studded trailer launch of Cocktail 2 in Mumbai saw a massive turnout, with leading stars Kriti Sanon, Shahid Kapoor, and Rashmika Mandanna gracing the event alongside visionary director Homi Adajania and powerhouse producer Dinesh Vijan.
All eyes were definitely on Kriti Sanon, who is all set to play Ally—a sexy, carefree siren who is ready to steal hearts. However, looking that effortlessly glamorous on screen apparently came with a hilarious, food-deprived cost behind the scenes.
When asked at the press conference about the grueling physical transformation and how she sculpted her body so beautifully for the role, Kriti did not hold back the raw, relatable truth about her fitness journey. She said, “Well, in the movie—and even in Mashooka—we loved it. I must say, it was a very tough experience. Because I wasn't getting to eat much, and for the first time in my life, I was on a very strict diet—and that too in Italy! I think Shahid can vouch for the fact that I was extremely cranky and irritable all the time. So, yeah. I mean, everything is worth it. I hope everything is worth it."
The film also marks a massive reunion for Kriti and Shahid Kapoor, who previously shared the screen in the sci-fi romance Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya. Because Kriti famously played a robot in their last outing, she expressed sheer joy at finally getting to share a normal, organic human connection with her co-star this time around.
When asked about working with Shahid again, Kriti opened up about how liberating the experience was: "Honestly speaking, it was lovely just being a human being with him this time around, and I really loved reacting to him. During Teri Baaton Mein, I remember I kept telling Shahid repeatedly, 'You know, I just feel so stuck; I'm not able to react to you.' And he is someone who improvises a lot, you know? I love actors like that because there is so much you can feed off of them. So, I had a lot of fun finally being free and just being a human being with him. And I think we have—we have great chemistry."
Serving as a highly anticipated spiritual successor to the 2012 cult classic Cocktail, this brand-new story explores the messy, beautiful complexities of modern relationships, heartbreak, and friendship, and it is already driving fans wild online.
With Homi Adajania back at the directorial helm, Cocktail 2 is skipping a direct continuation of the original trio's life and instead diving headfirst into an entirely fresh narrative. Backed by the distinct, urban relationship storytelling style that Dinesh Vijan and Maddock Films are celebrated for, the project is shaping up to be a definitive summer blockbuster.
Between the brilliant improvisational energy of Shahid, the fiery new avatar of Kriti, and the unmatched charm of Rashmika Mandanna, the screen is bound to catch fire. Mark your calendars, because Cocktail 2 is scheduled to hit cinemas worldwide on June 19, 2026.
