During the trailer launch of Do Deewane Sheher Mein, actress Mrunal Thakur opened up about her journey into the film industry, sharing the drive and determination that kept her going despite coming from outside the Bollywood fold.

Mrunal said, “The worst could have happened, I mean, I would have gotten married, that’s why I was like, I don’t want to get married, I want to work,” Mrunal said, reflecting on societal expectations for women where she grew up. “Girls, where I come from, my mom got married when she was 18, or my cousin got married when she was 21 or 23. So, marriages happen at that age, you know. And I was very, very ambitious.”

She described her decision to pursue acting as a do-or-die moment. “It was a do-or-die situation for me. If I hadn’t followed my passion, reached Mumbai, taken a Bachelor of Mass Media… I would have had to give up my seat in BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery). I was supposed to be a dentist with a clinic downstairs, a house upstairs, a family. But that wasn’t what I wanted. I wanted to create my own path. To be someone that people would look up to, like how Samriddhi did today, and that’s what gives me joy.”

Mrunal also explained how she keeps herself motivated during tough days. “Every day, whenever I feel like, you know what, I’m not good enough, I always go back and revisit all the good work and all the difficult stuff I’ve done. I watch the Love Sonia trailer. I watch the Sita Ramam trailer, and I just feel like, wow, if I can come this far… I haven’t come this far just to come this far. I have to go much further. Set an example. And yes, as the film suggests, rise in love, don’t fall in love.”

Do Deewane Sheher Mein is an upcoming Hindi-language romantic drama written by Abhiruchi Chand and directed by Ravi Udyawar. The film is produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Prerna Singh, Umesh Kumar Bansal, and Bharat Kumar Ranga under Zee Studios, Rancorp Media, and Bhansali Productions.

The film stars Siddhant Chaturvedi and Mrunal Thakur in the lead roles and is scheduled for a theatrical release on 20 February 2026. With heartfelt storytelling and an inspiring lead actress, it promises to be one of Bollywood’s most anticipated romantic dramas next year.
