Veteran screenwriter Salim Khan remains under close observation at Lilavati Hospital, and his medical team has shared an update on his condition. Pulmonologist Jalil Parkar addressed the media alongside Colonel Dr. Verma, the hospital’s medical director, and Dr. Vineet Ahluwalia, providing clarity amid circulating reports.
“Good afternoon, everyone. We're here to give you a news bulletin with regards to Mr. Salim Khan. I'm Dr. Jalil Parkar. This is Colonel Dr. Verma, the medical director over here. My colleague, Vineet, Dr. Vineet Alwalia, the details are like this: That yesterday morning, he was admitted to Lilavati Hospital. He was brought in by his family,” Dr. Parkar began.
He explained the sequence of events: “The physician, whose name is Dr. Sandeep Chopra, after seeing him in the casualty department and giving him some medication, we realized that he needed ICU hospitalization. We took him to the ICU. However, he was having seizures, and his blood pressure was high, for which we treated him. We had to put him on a ventilator because we wanted to do a certain investigation. Now, the ventilator that was put on him was a safeguard, so that doesn't change. So it was not that he was critical as you all have said on various channels.”
Regarding the medical procedures, Dr. Parkar added, “We did the investigations that were required and today we have done a small procedure on him. I will not go into the details of the procedure. The procedure was performed by Dr. Nitin Nayange, who is a neurosurgeon. And the procedure that was performed is called DSA. You are very good and being Dr. Vileshvar. So you can see that. The procedure has been accomplished. He is stable. He is being shifted to the ICU. And by tomorrow I think we will get him off the ventilator. All in all, he is doing quite well. That is a fact to be understood. That is why the process of recovery takes a little time. So by tomorrow I think, if God wishes, everything will be off the ventilator.”
Dr. Parkar’s statement reassures fans and colleagues that Salim Khan is stable and under careful supervision. The ventilator was a precautionary measure, and the medical team remains optimistic about his recovery in the coming days.
