Actress Ayesha Khan was full of praise for Jamie Lever after attending The Jamie Lever Show for the very first time. While she expected an evening packed with comedy, it was Jamie's singing that left her pleasantly surprised. The Dhurandhar actress also applauded Jamie for creating her own identity despite being the daughter of comedy legend Johnny Lever, calling her a "complete performer."
Sharing her first impression of the live show, Ayesha admitted that Jamie's musical talent completely exceeded her expectations. "Yes, I am attending the show for the first time, and I think the most surprising thing for me was discovering that Jamie is a really good singer. Of course, I already knew about her comedy—we've done a movie together—but she is a great singer. We're only halfway through, and it's a lovely show; I think everyone should watch it," she said.
The actress refused to reveal too much about the performance, encouraging audiences to experience it themselves. "If I tell you everything now, will you still come to watch it? But I can promise you, it's super entertaining. She is a true performer. Being a comedian is one thing, but she is a complete performer—singing, dancing, acting, being funny... she's doing it all. So, please, definitely come and watch the show."
When asked whether the comedy or the music stood out more, Ayesha admitted that she had walked in expecting laughter but walked away impressed by Jamie's vocals. "I actually came for the comedy, but surprisingly, Jamie's singing really took me by surprise. She is a fabulous singer; the entire audience was singing along with her at the top of their lungs. It is truly admirable."
The actress also praised Jamie for building an independent identity despite carrying one of the biggest surnames in Indian comedy. "She is Johnny Lever's daughter, yet she has carved out a distinct identity of her own. I think it's because... well, when you don't come from a specific background, you don't carry any baggage. But for someone like Jamie, who is associated with such a legendary name, she has to carry that legacy while constantly facing comparisons. So, I think it's more difficult for them. And the way Jamie has been doing such great work and proving herself in every aspect is absolutely amazing."
The conversation also turned towards the ongoing debate around nepotism in the entertainment industry. Unlike many who shy away from the subject, Ayesha offered an honest and practical perspective. "I think everyone has their own journey. Whether you come from a specific background or not, everyone has their own path. Everyone has their own challenges."
Drawing an everyday comparison, she explained why she doesn't see privilege as inherently wrong. "If you look at a village grocery store, the owner usually has his own son sit at the counter. So, I feel that when I eventually get married and have children, I would want my work to yield some benefit for them. So, I absolutely support nepotism. It only feels wrong until it happens to you. Of course, there are pros and cons to it. Everyone has their own journey."
With Jamie Lever earning appreciation for her versatility and Ayesha Khan openly acknowledging both her talent and hard work, the interaction became a refreshing conversation about success, legacy and creating an identity beyond a famous surname.
