From the heart-wrenching intensity of Laila Majnu to the comic timing of Madgaon Express, the grit of Khakee: The Bihar Chapter, and the layered drama of The Mehta Boys, Avinash Tiwary has carved a niche as an actor defined by range and emotional precision. Yet, for his upcoming role in Vishal Bhardwaj’s O Romeo, audiences are in for something unexpected: flamenco.

The actor recently shared a video of himself dancing flamenco, revealing how the art form shaped his antagonist Jalal—a matador whose menace is as much about control as it is about violence. The clip, showcasing grounded posture, sharp footwork, and coiled tension, offers a rare glimpse into Avinash’s rigorous physical preparation. Alongside the video, he wrote: "Before Spain. Before the language. The body already knew! A glimpse into the prep for O Romeo."

While flamenco appears only briefly on screen, the training was far from superficial. For a small but crucial sequence, Avinash performed flamenco, using the dance to condition his body for the movements of a matador—how Jalal stands his ground, advances with deliberation, and conveys latent danger through stillness. The sequence may or may not make it to the final cut, but it speaks volumes about Avinash’s versatility and commitment.

As O Romeo generates buzz for his transformative turn, Avinash also has Imtiaz Ali’s O Saathi Re and Prasshant Jha’s Ginny Weds Sunny 2 lined up, cementing his position as one of the most exciting and dependable talents of his generation.
