A24 has released the final promo trailer for Backrooms, the feature film adaptation of the viral web horror series created by YouTuber Kane Parsons, also known as “Kane Pixels.” Based on the famous internet creepypasta and urban legend of the same name, the film transforms the unsettling online phenomenon into a full-scale cinematic horror experience, blending analog-style footage with psychological dread.
The story follows a series of disturbing home videos documenting unexplained supernatural events tied to a mysterious doorway that appears in the basement of a furniture showroom. When a therapist’s patient vanishes into a dimension beyond reality, she is forced to confront the unknown and enter the terrifying labyrinth herself in a desperate attempt to bring him back. The premise expands the original web series’ lore while intensifying its emotional stakes and psychological horror elements.
The film stars Chiwetel Ejiofor as the manager of Cap’n Clark’s Ottoman Empire, the furniture showroom at the center of the phenomenon. He is joined by Renate Reinsve, Mark Duplass, Finn Bennett, Lukita Maxwell, and Avan Jogia, forming a cast that grounds the surreal horror in emotionally charged performances.
