She has made us laugh, cry, and cheer over the years — but now, Mona Singh is ready to shock audiences like never before. After powerful turns in Black, White & Gray: Love Kills and Kohrra Season 2, the actress dives headfirst into dangerous territory with Subedaar, playing a ruthless land mafia figure named Didi. And by her own admission, this is a role that terrified her — before it thrilled her.

Opening up about stepping into the grey — and perhaps even darker — zone, Mona didn’t hold back. She said, "See first thing first I would like to say that I feel very grateful to be surrounded by you, you have so much talent and so much love. I got a call from Suresh, he is a dear friend. And he told me Muna, I said yes, your voice was like my voice, what happened? So he was like, 'I'm offering a role and something that you've never done before. I was like, 'Okay, let's meet,' and I went to meet him. He narrated the script to me, and he told me about my character. I was like, 'Oh my God, what have you given me? I've never done this. I've never done this before.' So today, I want to tell you all, 'Didi, the fear is over, the game is over.'"

Directed by Suresh Triveni, Subedaar marks Mona’s first collaboration with the filmmaker — and clearly, it’s been nothing short of electrifying. Known for crafting layered, character-driven narratives, Triveni appears to have handed Mona a part that shatters her previous screen image.

And if you think she merely performed the role, think again. Mona revealed just how much she enjoyed embodying the unpredictable and unapologetically flawed Didi. She added, "So, I had a lot of fun, I had a lot of fun, and I think that's the best part, you know, about working with Suresh. It's our first collaboration. I had a ball, I mean, we were just playing. I was like, 'Let's try this now,' and I said, 'Didi, will you do this now?' So I was like, 'Okay, she's full of surprises,' she's a little winzy, she's very unpredictable, and she's unapologetically flawed. That's what I love about the character. So, I've had a lot of fun.' Fun"

In Subedaar, Mona goes head-to-head with Anil Kapoor, who plays retired soldier Subedaar Arjun Maurya — a man grappling with corruption, personal demons, and a fractured bond with his daughter in the heart of Madhya Pradesh. The film also stars Radhika Madan, Saurabh Shukla, Aditya Rawal, and Faisal Malik in pivotal roles.

Set against a volatile socio-political backdrop, the story follows Arjun as he battles local corruption and rising threats within his community — threats that include powerful figures like Didi. As he leans on his military discipline and combat instincts to protect his family, sparks are bound to fly when these two forces collide.

Backed by Abundantia Entertainment, Opening Image Films, and Anil Kapoor Film and Communication Network, the action drama is slated to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on 5 March 2026.

With a character described as “full of surprises,” “very unpredictable,” and “unapologetically flawed,” Mona Singh is clearly done playing safe. Didi isn’t here to seek approval — she’s here to rule. And if Mona’s fiery declaration is any hint, Subedaar might just deliver one of the most sensational performances of her career.
