The shooting for Mirzapur – The Movie has officially wrapped up, and actress Shriya Pilgaonkar couldn’t contain her excitement as she reunited with the beloved team and stepped back into the shoes of Sweety Gupta. Taking to Instagram, Shriya shared a series of behind-the-scenes photos and wrap-up moments from the sets, instantly sending fans of the franchise into a nostalgia spiral.
“It’s a wrap! Always the best time with this gang on set,” Shriya wrote, adding that reliving Sweety Gupta felt “so special.” Teasing what’s to come, she promised that the big-screen version of Mirzapur is going to be “wild,” building major anticipation for the franchise’s cinematic leap after its massive OTT success.
For fans, Sweety Gupta remains one of the most emotionally impactful characters from Season 1 of Mirzapur. Her shocking death at the hands of Munna Bhaiyya during her own wedding — despite being pregnant — remains one of the series’ most heartbreaking moments. Shriya’s return to the Mirzapur universe, even in the film format, has reignited conversations around her character’s legacy.
The Mirzapur universe revolves around Akhandanand ‘Kaleen’ Tripathi, the feared crime lord and businessman who controls the Mirzapur district in Uttar Pradesh’s Purvanchal region. The first season starred Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Divyendu Sharma, Vikrant Massey, Shweta Tripathi, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Rasika Dugal, Harshita Gaur, and Kulbhushan Kharbanda, becoming a cultural phenomenon upon release.
While Season 2 retained most of the original cast — excluding Vikrant Massey and Shriya Pilgaonkar — it introduced new faces like Vijay Varma, Isha Talwar, Lilliput, Anjum Sharma, Priyanshu Painyuli, Anangsha Biswas, and Neha Sargam, expanding the gritty crime saga. Now, with Mirzapur – The Movie, the makers are taking the franchise to an even larger canvas.
On the work front, Shriya Pilgaonkar continues to stay busy. She will next be seen in Haiwaan, directed by Priyadarshan, marking the much-anticipated reunion of Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan after 18 years since Tashan. From her award-winning Marathi debut Ekulti Ek to standout performances in Mirzapur, Guilty Minds, The Broken News, and Taaza Khabar, Shriya has steadily carved a strong space for herself across films and web series.
With shooting wrapped and excitement peaking, Mirzapur – The Movie is shaping up to be one of the most awaited big-screen adaptations of a web series — and fans are more than ready to return to the lawless lanes of Purvanchal.
